ABSTRACTS: The paper aims to analyze the inevitable trend of implementing autonomy in public educational institutions in the context of educational reform today, summarizes some legal regulations on the implementation of autonomy and self-responsibility of educational institutions. Besides this paper also provides the autonomy model of general education in some countries in the world, as well as shows main features of the current public general education autonomy in Vietnam, thereby suggests necessary recommendations for implementing autonomy in general education in future
