06. Lessons from developed countries for internationalization of basic education using competence-based approach

ABSTRACT

Globalization brings many challenges to the education of nations around the world to meet new ever-increasing demands. Globalization, also opens up opportunities for countries to access and learn from each other's experiences in educational reform. Internationalization of education is therefore, a requirement, as well as a key for countries, including Vietnam, to improve the quality of education. Using competence-based approach, this paper presents the lessons learned from developed countries such as New Zealand, the United States, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan for the process of internationalization in basic education in terms of: identifying a key competences framework that meets the requirements of internationalization, bringing international elements into the goals of general education and integrating key competences framework into curriculum
