16. Asian Universities against globalization impact - The case of Japan

ABSTRACT: In the early years of the 21st century, globalisation has strongly influenced in many countries. If economy has been directly influenced by globalisation, education- especialy in higher education, has been deeply and silently affected by this process. Some scientists called that is higher educational internationalization. Yet, the termhigher educational internationalizationhas not enough to decribe the problem. It is another way to call when we consider this problem from aspect of education, but in fact that higher education systems of many countries had to change their tendency to adapt with a lot of challengesor obstacles. This process not only simply changes the curriculum, teaching methods, or lecturers but also stimulates ideology, in meaning a new system of ideas and ideals in the higher education system. In addition to being face with many challenges, this process brought to higher education system some things associated with factors called profits. The factor profit, the challenges, and the newstimulation in ideology in higher education system of each nation were different. This paperwill analyze problems involved in the case higher education system in Japan based on some figures.
