17. Applying the 5E model in teaching the topic of Light in Science subject at grade fourth

ABSTRACT

The general direction of the general education program from 2018 is to transform from a knowledge-based approach to a competency-based approach. The program of Science subject at primary schools built in this new direction requires changes in designing and organizing teachers' teaching and learning activities. Model 5E is a model of science teaching in accordance with the educational philosophy of "learnercentered" and is built on the theory of constructive teaching. The lesson designing of teachers in phases of the 5E process facilitates students to receive knowledge in a systematic and effective way. The sequence of activity phases of the model is similar to the process of scientific discovery in practice.
